The Baltimore Orioles have struggled throughout this season, and there is wide speculation that the club will be sellers come the MLB trade deadline on July 31. However, insiders stirred the pot, urging Baltimore to also find a way to be a buyer as well.

Though contending teams might be dreaming about the extreme unlikelihood that Jacob deGrom or Paul Skenes could become available — “You’re saying there’s a chance!” — this trade deadline is more about mid-tier starters and other complementary pieces.

Rosenthal and Sammon also point toward other Baltimore players who are staring free agency in the face. Those include first baseman /outfielder Ryan O’Hearn, center fielder Cedric Mullins and catcher Gary Sánchez, and relievers Seranthony Domínguez and Gregory Soto.
