Another atmospheric river will bring more rain to the Pacific Northwest later this week, heightening an extensive flood threat.
Flooding rains and lingering storm impacts come as the atmospheric river that hit the Pacific Northwest this week will make another visit to the region next week.
KOIN 6 Chief Meteorologist Josh Cozart shares the swift-flowing waters of Multnomah Falls and Wahkeena Falls along the Columbia River Gorge. This comes a day after a powerful and record-breaking atmospheric river brought heavy rain to the Pacific Northwest.
The National Water Center said that "considerable" flooding impacts are expected across the Cascade Foothills to Puget Sound, with urban and minor river flooding also possible throughout the remainder of western Washington and parts of northern Oregon. It also warned that landslides would be possible along the Cascade Foothills.
At least one person is dead in Washington as flash flooding hit the state, prompting evacuations orders in some areas, officials said.
As a strong atmospheric river makes its way through the Pacific Northwest, residents have braced themselves for flooding, downed trees, and power outages. Now add sewage to the list.
