The Carolina Hurricanes are the top team in the Eastern Conference, and their goaltender, Brandon Bussi, has been phenominal.
Bussi improved to 10-1-0 by making 23 saves in a 3-2 shootout victory against the Washington Capitals at Capital One Arena on Thursday. Three of Bussi’s saves, including one in overtime, were against Ovechkin, the NHL record holder with 911 goals.
“Things happen at random times,” said Bussi, who has looked just as worthy of being in the NHL as those big-name prospects he shared the ice with at the AHL All-Star Game in 2023. “You can’t predict it. It just happens, especially for goalies. So I’m just fortunate that I’ve been able to help the team out.”
Slavin returns, Bussi shines, and Svechnikov clinches another shootout victory as the Hurricanes continue their winning streak.
Goaltender Brandon Bussi became the fastest goaltender in NHL history to record 10 career wins (11 GP) and has now won eight straight starts, tying Frederik Andersen for the second-longest streak by a goaltender in franchise history. Thursday's victory was his first to come in a shootout.
