Fierce wildfires are raging in the Los Angeles area, with fast-moving flames burning through homes and businesses. Residents are fleeing smoke-filled canyons.

At least five people died in fires raging across Los Angeles. Several of them lived near each other in the ravaged Altadena neighborhood.

Los Angeles County fires have raged across communities and destroyed more than 27,000 acres and 2,000 homes, businesses and other structures. The fires have displaced thousands of people as they escape the blazes for safety.
