Denmark's foreign minister has summoned the U.S. ambassador after President Donald Trump appointed Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry the United States' special envoy to Greenland.

The Danish foreign minister says his country insists that everyone, including the United States, must respect “the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Denmark.”

Denmark’s foreign minister quickly criticized the move as “totally unacceptable” and said he would summon the American ambassador in Copenhagen for an explanation.
