Marvel Snap” is a casualty of the U.S.’s move to ban TikTok over fears about its Chinese parent company. It’s not just TikTok that winked offline for U.S. users Saturday, just hours before the Jan. 19 deadline in the U.

Marvel Snap has now been banned in the US alongside TikTok, thanks to an association with the social media platform's parent company ByteDance, catching players off guard.

The superhero card battler is still available on Steam, but the game got Thanos-snapped out of Apple and Google’s stores because its publisher is owned by ByteDance.

Marvel Snap has been abruptly shut down and removed from App Stores due to the controversial TikTok ban in the United States.

In a statement, developers Second Dinner and publisher Nuverse said the game was unexpectedly impacted by the takedown of TikTok on Saturday, Jan. 18.

Marvel Snap has been snapped out of existence in US storefronts following the TikTok ban since ByteDance owns Nuverse which TikTok owns.

The social platform was joined in bans by AI creative platform CapCut and free-to-play card game Marvel Snap, which both had ties to ByteDance.

Marvel Snap, developed by Second Dinner, has found itself unexpectedly affected by the ByteDance-related ban. This connection exists because ByteDance was previously the publisher of Marvel Snap. In 2023, ByteDance exited the gaming industry, selling its Nuverse gaming subsidiary as part of a business restructuring.
