The No Kings events come after days of protests following raids by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Los Angeles, and Trump’s subsequent deployment of thousands of National Guard and U.S. Marines troops to “temporarily protect” ICE and other federal personnel, along with federal property.
A recurring theme among demonstrators at the Miami "No Kings" protest was anger over President Trump’s immigration policies, which have sharply curtailed illegal border crossings while also pushing to speed up and expand deportations.
Detectives believe the victim was at the demonstration as a bystander and “was not the intended target of the gunfire.”
