Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis have released the crew of the Galaxy Leader more than a year after they seized their Bahamas-flagged vessel off the Yemeni Red Sea coast, Houthi-owned Al Masirah TV reported on Wednesday.

The Iran-backed Yemen-based Houthi militia has released the crew of the Galaxy Leader cargo ship, more than a year after it seized the vessel as part of a maritime blockade in the Middle East during Israel's war in Gaza.

Yemen's Houthi movement says it has released the crew of the cargo ship Galaxy Leader, which its fighters seized in November 2023 at the start of their campaign of attacks on Red Sea shipping linked to the Gaza war.

The Houthis have released the crew of merchant vessel M/V Galaxy Leader, according to posts on X shared by the spokesman for the Yemen-based group.  The Galaxy Leader crew was released on the directive of Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi,

The crew of the Galaxy Leader, a vessel seized by Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis over a year ago, has been released. Their release coincides with a Gaza ceasefire, showing Houthi support for Palestinian groups.

Al-Masirah TV, affiliated with the Iran-backed Houthi rebels, reported that 25 crew members of the Galaxy Leader ship have been freed after 14 months.

The crew of the Bahamas-flagged Galaxy Leader has been released by Yemen's Houthis, a year after their capture. This act comes amid a ceasefire in Gaza. The crew, consisting of 25 nationals, was handed over to Oman.
