BEIJING, Feb 3 (Reuters) - China will ban 'hidden' car door handles from 2027, becoming the first country to phase out a design pioneered by Tesla and adopted by Chinese competitors including Xiaomi.

New rules, announced by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will take effect from Jan 1, 2027, and will require door handles to have both interior and exterior mechanical releases.
