Harlan Co. Coroner Derrick Noe pronounced Samantha Simpson dead at Harlan ARH Hospital. Johnny Simpson was transferred from Harlan ARH Hospital to UK Medical Center for further treatment.

Hospital leaders said it was not a decision they wanted to make, but with lower birth rates and Harlan’s population projected to decrease, there would not be enough demand.
