ITV to produce Channel 5’s snooker coverage
U K commercial broadcaster ITV’s sports production arm has been selected by rival free-to-air network Channel 5 to produce coverage of World Snooker Tour (WST) events, beginning with the Players Championship and Tour Championship in early 2026.
ITV is on the verge of securing broadcasting rights for the inaugural Nations Championship after tabling a bid of £90m to ensure that every rugby union Test match next year will be shown on free-to-air television.
ITV Sport Production is headed up by Mark Demuth, who as Managing Director, has been responsible for award-winning sports coverage including numerous major international and domestic tournaments and Katie Reed, Head of Production has overseen all major tournaments for ITV Sport since 2022.

Sports host collapses on live TV
Sports host Laura Woods announced she is doing okay after collapsing on-air during live coverage of a women’s soccer match Tuesday evening. The incident occurred during the first few minutes of ITV’s broadcast featuring England vs.
The 38-year-old was hosting pitchside, alongside pundits Ian Wright and Anita Asante, when she suddenly slumped forward. Both Wright and Asante caught her before she hit the turf, and ITV cut immediately to an advertisement break.
