Canadian man accused of facilitating the deadly 2008 terror attacks in Mumbai has landed in India from the US, 17 years after the country was jolted by one of the worst tragedies to occur on its soil.

A Pakistani-born Canadian businessman accused of helping orchestrate the 2008 attacks in Mumbai, one of India's deadliest, arrived in New Delhi on Thursday after the U.S. extradited him in the first such transfer in a terrorism case.

Tahawwur Rana, a Canadian citizen, landed in Delhi on Thursday. India's National Investigation Agency confirmed his extradition had been successful. In 2011, a US court cleared him of a direct role in helping plot the attacks that killed 166 people,
