A winter storm watch has been issued in the Twin Cities, where heavy snow is expected to fall across much of Sunday, while strong winds could bring blizzard conditions to central parts of Minnesota.
Minnesota’s Weather Authority is once again issuing a Forecast First Alert as we head into a dangerous stretch of cold. Cold Weather Advisories are now in effect for the entire viewing area from Friday night through Sunday morning.
The National Weather Service has issued Winter Weather Advisories for all of Southeast Minnesota and Northeast Iowa, effective until 6 a.m. Wednesday. These advisories highlight the expectation of mixed precipitation, including freezing rain and snow, which could lead to hazardous travel conditions.
The NWS has issued a blizzard warning for northwestern Minnesota and eastern North Dakota, including the metro areas of Fargo -Moorhead and Grand Forks. That's where 1-4 inches of snow and wind gusts up to 70 mph could cause havoc.

Minnesota weather: Strong winds, cold temperatures continue overnight
There's a blizzard warning in effect in northwestern Minnesota, which has prompted a no travel advisory near the North Dakota border. Visibility in some areas is down to less than 1/10 mile, with some areas experiencing white-out conditions. Drifting snow is also possible in the area.
(KNSI) – Winter weather and wind advisories have been issued for central Minnesota on Thursday. The winter weather advisory will run from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Stearns County, and from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Benton, Sherburne, Wright, and Morrison Counties.
WARSAW — It looks like area residents will be getting some snow with their turkey and stuffing. A lake effect snow warning has been issued for Wyoming County, while winter weather advisories have been issued for Genesee and Orleans counties.

MN weather: Falling temps, gusty winds Thursday
A cold front will bring plummeting temperatures, gusty winds, and snow showers across Minnesota on Thursday. The National Weather Service has issued a variety of warnings and advisories as visibility and travel conditions could become challenging.
Dangerous cold is the big story all weekend as the Twin Cities awoke Saturday to subzero temperatures. Wind chills peak near minus 20 degrees Saturday afternoon. Frostbite can set in on exposed skin in 25 to 30 minutes in these conditions.
