Cam Thomas scored 30 points after missing 20 games with a left hamstring strain, and the Brooklyn Nets defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night.
The Nets continued a recent hot streak by dominating Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves for their most impressive win of the season.
Since December 15th, most players in the NBA are eligible to be trade and the Brooklyn Nets could be one of the most active teams by the deadline.
Michael Porter Jr. had 27 points and 10 rebounds for the Nets (10-19), while Cam Thomas dropped a game-high 30 points off the bench and was a +27. Anthony Edwards had 28 points for the Timberwolves (20-12), but the Nets simply made more shots as a group (55 percent on field goals vs. 45 percent for Minnesota).
The Nets, who made 17 three-pointers for the third time in four games, improved to 9-19. Michael Porter Jr. led the charge anew with a game-high 28 points, including five three-pointers. He also had five rebounds and two steals.
The Toronto Raptors and Brooklyn Nets meet Sunday at 6 p.m. ET from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Recent reports indicate that the Brooklyn Nets are actively exploring a trade for Cam Thomas, but there’s a catch.
The Nets rank 14th in offensive rating (116.4), second in defensive rating (104.8) and fourth in net rating (11.6) during that span. Those numbers were inflated by a stunning 45-point beatdown of the Bucks on Sunday at Barclays Center.
In the Brooklyn Nets case, however, there were certain expectations for their roster, but nothing regarding wins. Jordi Fernandez entered his second season at the helm for Brooklyn, and they fielded the youngest squad in the league with a record five first-round picks in the 2026 NBA Draft.
