More than 40 million are on alert as the next winter storm is forecast to bring inclement weather from the Dakotas into northern New England over the coming days.

An impactful shot of snow and ice will blast through the Northeast set to dump snow threatening post-Christmas holiday travel at major airports and highways across the region.

A winter weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service on Sunday at 8:50 a.m. valid from 2 p.m. until Monday 4 a.m. for Tioga County.
