A state judge says the DEC needs to review a local man’s application to keep his pet alligator Albert after the reptile was seized by the state last March. Tony Cavallaro kept Albert in his Hamburg home for decades.

There are new developments in the legal case surrounding "Albert the Alligator" who was seized from a Hamburg home in March 2024.

A judge ruled that the state must re-examine a license application that may let a Hamburg man reclaim his 11-foot-long pet alligator.
