Nine Macy’s locations are closing in California. In the Bay Area, the Corte Madera store, the Newark store and San Mateo’s furniture gallery are all scheduled to close. It should be noted that the Downtown Plaza Macy’s that is listed as closing is the one in Sacramento’s Downtown Commons and not Santa Rosa Plaza’s Macy’s.

The Macy's department store in Center City Philadelphia will be closing its doors for good, one of more than 60 locations that will be shuttered across the country.

Macy’s announced Thursday the long-rumored closures of its locations in Citrus Heights and downtown Sacramento. The latter has been part of the city’s core for more than six decades.

Macy's said last February that it planned to shutter 150 stores by the end of 2026 — about a third of its locations. The retailer also said it is leaning into its high-end brands and plans to invest in its "350 go-forward Macy's locations.
