TikTok’s American operations would be acquired by an investor consortium that includes Oracle Corp., Andreessen Horowitz and private equity firm Silver Lake Management LLC under a framework deal that US President Donald Trump is set to discuss with Chinese President Xi Jinping later this week.

Technology company Oracle is among a consortium of firms that would enable TikTok to continue operations in the U.S. if a framework deal is finalized, sources say.

Negotiations are becoming more serious as the Sept. 17 deadline approaches to sell the app or see it banned in the U.S.

Oracle is a rumored buyer of TikTok, even though the Chinese social media company would seem to be a very poor fit with its portfolio.

Under the deal, ByteDance Ltd.’s stake in TikTok would be reduced to below 20% to satisfy a US national security law passed in 2024

The precise structure of the deal was not clear, the report said, adding that the deal will include multiple companies. The White House, Oracle and TikTok did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for a comment.
