The National Weather Service has now confirmed seven tornadoes touched down across the state in Sunday's storm.
Five tornadoes touched down Sunday in Cass, Ingham, Kent, and Newaygo counties, the National Weather Service confirmed. The first one, an EF1, started at about 4:52 p.m. in Edwardsburg in Cass County, officials with the weather service's Northern Indiana office said.
A storm system that brought severe weather to the central states over the weekend will spread through the South and East Monday. Damaging winds, large hail and a few tornadoes are potential threats. Three people were killed in a crash near Climax, in Kalamazoo County, while thousands are without power in northern Michigan.
Nine tornadoes struck Michigan on Sunday, March 30, with high winds causing four fatalities, including three children.
