U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced late Friday that some smartphones, computers, chips and other electronics would be exempted from tariffs, but Trump's top economic advisers hit the Sunday talk shows to explain the policy, saying that tariffs against electronics would be coming in the next month or two.

Trump may have hit the brakes on reciprocal tariffs levied against many of the US’ top trading partners, but the duties imposed on China will reach a staggering 145% on certain goods.

On Tuesday, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that Trump’s threats of even higher tariffs on China would become a reality after midnight, when imports from China are taxed a stunning 104% rate.
