Salt Lake City is starting its much-anticipated study to conquer barriers that west-side residents have long fumed over.
The Colorado Sun explained that the measure would allocate $4 million to $5 million a year in incentives through 2030, and then $3 million a year through 2036, maxxing out at $34 million. WCPO in Cincinnati reported that the Cincinnati City Council approved $5 million toward its bid last year, which would be allocated over 10 years.
That’s why Salt Lake City is looking to completely rewrite its zoning map, trimming 26 existing mixed-use and commercial zones, differentiated by height, into six more distinctive zones. Residential zones will remain, but city planners are proposing that rules be simplified and modified to allow for more units per lot as the city grows.
