Ohio State has rolled through the CFP. The Buckeyes have been favored in all three games — vs. Tennessee, Oregon and Texas — and covered comfortably in all three. It got a little iffy late in the CFP semifinal against the Longhorns. But the Buckeyes have mostly cruised.

ATLANTA (AP) — Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith was able to keep a team-first approach after having extra defensive attention make him almost invisible in the Buckeyes’ Cotton Bowl win over Texas in the College Football Playoff semifinals.

This is it. One final game to be remembered forever in Ohio State lore. One team, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and a friend turned foe in Marcus Freeman stand in the way. The Buckeyes have dominated the College Football Playoff, but none of that matters if they can’t get this last one done.

And of course, quarterback Riley Leonard is from Fairhope, Ala., southeast of Mobile. He came to Notre Dame via transfer from Duke, but he also grew up a Fighting Irish fan, his great grandfather having played for Notre Dame in the 1940s.
