Andrew Tate and his brothers are under criminal investigation in Romania on accusations of forming an organised criminal group, human trafficking.

The Trump administration has pushed Romania to lift travel restrictions on Andrew Tate, the controversial influencer facing charges of rape and human trafficking, the Financial Times reported.

The leader of the center-right European People's Party (EPP) group in the European Parliament, Manfred Weber, has expressed confidence in Romania's democracy and institutions amid recent developments connected to far-right politician Călin Georgescu.

Romania allowed the travel after pressure from Trump officials, a person familiar with the case said. The brothers, vocal Trump supporters, were detained in 2022.

Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan, suspected of human trafficking and rape, were under a travel ban but were supported by the Trump administration.

U.S. officials also brought up the case against the Andrew and Tristan Tate during a phone call with the Romanian government last week, and a request was made to give the brothers their passports back and allow them to travel until their court cases wrap up,
