A London government watchdog wants tougher rules on building data centers, warning that their power demands may impinge on the construction of new homes in the crowded capital.

O scar-winner Cate Blanchett has been given the Freedom of the City of London in recognition of her "outstanding contribution to drama" and for campaigning work on humanitarian and global environmental issues.

The City of London is hosting a public meeting about expanding the urban footprint this coming Tuesday. On the table, is a plan to make approximately 1,500 hecatres of land  available for development.

Last week, Radiohead played four sold-out shows at London’s O2 Arena — and the gigs ended up beating an attendance record set by Metallica at the same venue in 2017. The band played the O2 on Nov. 21, 22, 24 and 25, and each show had at least 22,200 fans in attendance, with the final night reaching 22,355.

In the Grenfell Tower blaze, a combustible element called cladding that ran up the outside of the 24-story building allowed the fire to jump from floor to floor.

Businesses across London have been reacting to the measures announced by Chancellor Rachel Reeves in Wednesday's Budget. One of the biggest talking points is that the lowest-paid workers will get higher wages from April. Those aged 18-20 will see the minimum wage rise 85p to £10.85 and over-21s will be paid £12.71, up 50p.
