Drilling activity continues to trend upward, posting a second consecutive weekly gain. Oilfield services firm Baker Hughes said Friday its U.S. rig count rose four rigs to 586 rigs for the week.

The active rig count in the US was up by 4 units for the week ended Feb. 7 with 586 rigs running, according to Baker Hughes data.
