Planned Parenthood has announced the closure of two of its six clinics in the Houston area, including one known as the largest abortion facility in the Western Hemisphere.

On Thursday, Planned Parenthood Mar Monte announced on social media that it will close five clinics in Northern California after recent federal budget cuts eliminated Medicaid reimbursements for clinics that perform abortions.

Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast's Prevention Park and Southwest centers will close on September 30. Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood's Texas affiliate also will take over operations at the Houston-area's four other clinics -- Spring, Stafford, Northwest and Northville -- in October.
