Intuitive Machines is set to launch its second moon lander, which will use NASA and commercially developed tools to search for ice in the moon's crust, after Odysseus tipped over during touchdown last February.

SpaceX will launch Intuitive Machine’s Athena lunar lander toward the moon’s south pole on Wednesday, marking the latest mission by Intuitive Machine to explore the moon’s surface after completing the first-ever lunar landing by a private company last year.

Intuitive Machines made history when it became the first commercial company to land a spacecraft on the Moon, with its IM-1 mission. The arrival of the Odysseus lander on the lunar surface also marked the first U.

The IM-2 is headed for an expected landing at the moon's south pole March 6 carrying a payload of exploration gear.

Intuitive Machines out of Texas is sending a second lunar lander, this time Athena, to the moon, where it will drill for water, ice and other gases.

Mission, which includes the "Athena" lunar lander developed by Intuitive Machines in Houston, is scheduled to blast off on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket to the Moon as soon as Wednesday.
