The Brown University building where two students were killed had no surveillance cameras, even as the school president’s home is equipped with security monitoring.
Professor Rachel Friedberg confirmed to other media outlets that the attack occurred during a review session for her principles of economics class. A Brown student on TikTok explained that the shots were fired in Room 166, one of the large auditorium-style lecture halls on the first floor of the seven-floor Barus & Holley building at 184 Hope St.
Sunday’s men’s basketball game between USC and Brown has been canceled due to the impact of Saturday’s school shooting that took place on the Providence, Rhode Island, research university campus.
On Dec. 13, after a gunman opened fire at Brown University, killing two and injuring nine before evading capture, Trump posted on Truth Social that "the FBI is on the scene. The suspect is in custody." But about 20 minutes later, Trump posted an update: "The Brown University Police reversed their previous statement — The suspect is NOT in custody."
Rhode Island Hospital officials said seven victims of the shooting remain at the hospital, where several are in critical condition.
