Elon Musk’s artificial-intelligence startup, xAI, launched its first stand-alone consumer app, its latest step as the company tries to catch up with more established players such as OpenAI and Google in the generative AI race.

Elon Musk's AI company, xAI, is testing out a standalone iOS app for its chatbot, Grok, which was available only to X users until now.

xAI has released an iOS app in the US for its Grok chatbot, as spotted earlier by TechCrunch. The standalone app version of the chatbot, which xAI calls a beta, can perform the same functions as the one built into X, as it can field real-time information, answer questions, and generate images.

Elon Musk has announced that xAI's Grok 3 large language model (LLM) has been pretrained, and took 10X more compute power than Grok 2. He did not reveal many details, but based on timing, the Grok 3 LLM was pre-trained on the Colossus supercluster, which contains some 100,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs.
