Gavin Newsom — in his individual capacity — sued the network for defamation Friday, arguing that its coverage of a call he had with President Donald Trump earlier this month was designed to damage his reputation.

The governor alleges Fox News host Jesse Watters claimed that he lied about his phone calls with Trump, who ordered National Guard troops to L.A. earlier this month.
