The Panama Canal is an artificial 82-kilometre (51-mile) waterway that connects the Atlantic Ocean with the Pacific Ocean, making it an important trade and logistics hub.

The EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA), signed on 30 December 2020, was applied provisionally from 1 January 2021 and entered into force on 1 May 2021.
