The first day of the fifth Test match between England and India at The Oval was badly disrupted by heavy rain and thunderstorms. England led 2-1 coming into the final game, with India needing victory to draw the series.

India head coach Gautam Gambhir clashed Tuesday with ground staff at the Oval cricket stadium ahead of the final test match of an occasionally fractious series against England. England leads the series 2-1.

England stand-in captain Ollie Pope has won the toss and elected to bowl first in the fifth and final Test at the Oval. On the other hand, confused Shubman Gill lost the toss for the fifth consecutive time in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.
