On Monday, the Twins took action. ESPN's Jeff Passan reported Monday morning that the Twins are signing free agent first baseman Josh Bell to a one-year contract with a mutual option in it for 2027. Bell isn't the biggest-name free agent, but he's still a solid switch-hitter.

Roughly 54 minutes later, Falvey and Zoll were relieved to learn the Twins only slipped one spot overall to the third pick in the draft. Whereas four other teams fell as many as five spots each, the Twins still wound up in prime position to land a difference-making player.

Josh Bell has signed a one-year contract with the Minnesota Twins and will be the team's starting first baseman in 2026.

Uncertain about their direction a month ago, the Twins have received assurances from ownership they can try to compete in 2026.
