Lionsgate ordered the movie The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping at the same time author Suzanne Collins announced the book about Haymitch Abernathy was on the way.
The Hunger Games is officially back in the spotlight, and the internet is eating it up. Lionsgate just revealed that Joseph Zada and Whitney Peak will star in Sunrise on the Reaping, the next big-screen installment in Suzanne Collins’ dystopian franchise.

Now, that winning formula is being repeated with Sunrise on the Reaping, a second prequel novel following young Haymitch Abernathy during his own stint in the Hunger Games. Set between Songbirds and Snakes and the original Hunger Games, the book is also being adapted into a movie, and it will bring back two original stars.
Sunrise on the Reaping will feature Ralph Fiennes, Jesse Plemons, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning, Joseph Zada, Glenn Close, McKenna Grace, Maya Hawke, and Whitney Peak. The film will be directed by Francis Lawrence based on a script by Billy Ray, and the film will be produced by Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, and Cameron MacConomy.
