Residents on the popular island of Santorini have experienced hundreds of earthquakes this week while researchers have revealed a new magma chamber underneath the Kolumbo submarine volcano.

A series of earthquakes near Santorini, Greece has prompted tourists to flee the area and the country to declare a state of emergency.

Santorini has been under a state of emergency following earthquakes, the strongest at 5.2 on the Richter scale. Over 11,000 people have evacuated, schools closed, and access restricted to certain areas.
