After the San Antonio Spurs announced that De'Aaron Fox will undergo season ending surgery to repair ligament damage in his left fifth finger — set for Tuesday in Los Angeles — they found themselves in need of a starter.

San Antonio guard De'Aaron Fox sustained the injury during training camp in October while still with Sacramento Kings.

Fox was traded alongside Jordan McLaughlin to the Spurs in a three-team trade involving the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls sent Zach LaVine, Sidy Cissoko, three first-round picks, and two second-round picks to the Kings. Zach Collins, Tre Jones, and a 2025 first-round pick were also sent to the Bulls, who also received Kevin Huerter from the Kings.
