AMD looks to be really gunning to take down Nvidia’s RTX 5070, and heated competition in the mid-range GPU space is an exciting prospect.

Not a moment too soon, AMD has finally put a release date on the much anticipated Radeon RX 9070 and 9070 XT GPUs. They go on sale in March. Yeah, just March, no specific day in March has yet been indentified by AMD.

CES 2025 set up an old-fashioned graphics card battle between Nvidia and AMD, even if the latter showed up a little late. We know when the new RTX 50 series GPUs will debut (at the end of January) and we now know when AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT cards will hit store shelves: March.

AMD announced its next-generation graphics cards, the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT, at CES 2025, but curiously, neither of the two RDNA 4 graphics cards was present during AMD’s keynote, despite vendors showing off their new cards on the show floor with redacted specifications.

The Radeon RX 9070 Series, the first GPUs from AMD to leverage its new RDNA 4 architecture, haven't been released yet because they are too expensive relative to the competition, according to new speculation brewed by a forum post from a PCGH insider who claims that the Radeon RX 9070 and Radeon RX 9070 XT have been delayed for reasons that include "unclear marketing funds" and trouble between AMD and its retail partners.
