Cam Ward’s pro debut was solid, if unspectacular. The first overall pick in this year’s NFL draft completed five of eight passes for 67 yards, but more importantly was composed and looked comfortable running Tennessee’s offense in the Titans’ 29-7 preseason-opening loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Titans rookie QB Cameron Ward made his preseason debut against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday and showed promise in his first live game action.

Cam Ward looked poised in his preseason debut for the Tennessee Titans. After going three and out on the first series, he came back and led an 11-play touchdown drive. That drive included three third down conversions that Ward picked up passing.

TAMPA — The Bucs began the week eying a new backup quarterback. On Saturday night, Kyle Trask gave them a reason not to look past him so quickly. The former Gators star, fighting for his job against newly-signed veteran Teddy Bridgewater, proved more than capable in the Bucs’ 29-7 preseason win over the Titans.

Ward had some moments with the Titans offense in the first half, leading them on their lone scoring drive of the game. Once he dipped out from the game the Bucs defense took over and never gave any ground back to the Titans,
