Jan 10, 2007 · I’m the owner of 2016 Cummins ISX 500 with right at 500,000 miles. Just wondering hopping I can keep it going another 200,000 to 250,000 miles before an inframe. Plan on putting on an OPS eco pur for cleaner oil and sampling. Are the cam shafts and fuel pumps still troublesome on the 16’s?

Jun 26, 2010 · The very early ISX's had a lot of problems, and blew up regularly. The shop I worked at had a fleet customer buy a dozen trucks, 6 with Detroit's 14 liters and 6 with ISX's. I had to change the parameters on one Detroit. and I had all 6 ISX's out of frame 5 were totaled, one we did a long block.

Nov 26, 2007 · I own a pre emissions ISX (2001). I put a crate engine from Cummins ReCon at 800k miles. Yes it had a bad cam and fallower. Guy I'm leased to put a new Cummins engine in his 13 after the fuel pump took a dump and destroyed the engine at 340k miles. Out of warranty.

A few months ago I nottice that my coolant exapansion tank is turning a little black inside and I though it's just gunk from the engine running hot during summer with heavy load in California. A few days ago I pulled the coolant filter out and surprize, a few drops of oil inside.

Oct 26, 2011 · My 08 Kenworth with cummins isx 871 600hp has been running rough, I've got cummins insite and codes 2449 2634 2636 came up multiple times indicating bad turbo actuator. I purchased a new one plugged it into the harness and ran the first calibration install sequence bolted it in and tried to calibrate and it keeps failing to calibrate.

Jul 26, 2014 · The issue is water pump. 90% sure one that one. Guessing your motor is between the yrs of 2007-2014. The fins in the pump are not flowing the coolant, they either broke or are chipped. Some pumps even use plastic fins in the cummins pump, horrible design causes lots of these issues. Just something to look into.
