Icelandic has remained remarkably unchanged since Norse settlers colonized the remote North Atlantic island in the 9th century. Its resistance to change comes partly from Icelands geographic isolation and partly from deliberate cultural preservation across generations. While other Nordic languages evolved dramatically under outside influ
