It’s been 70 years since an F5 tornado touched down in Blackwell, Oklahoma. The twister touched down just before 9:30 p.m. on May 25, 1955. The National Weather Service said 20 people died and 280 people were injured. It is estimated that 80 city blocks in Blackwell were damaged or destroyed.
