We celebrated La Posada last night with neighbors and it’s quickly becoming one of my favorite Christmas traditions. “La Posada” refers to a traditional Mexican Christmas celebration reenacting Mary and Joseph’s search for lodging (posada) in Bethlehem. We take a candlelit walk through the neighborhood, caroling (asking for shelter), and then we conclude with the Catholic Rosary and a huge feast. Every year, Knights around Austin, Texas, participate in Las Posadas — meaning “the inns” or “the shelters” — a Latin American Christmas tradition retelling the story of the Nativity. Additionally, as part of the celebration, Knights distributed food and other necessities to the homeless population in the city. | Knights of Columbus
