Alpaca shearing season has arrived. This is how I get alpacas to sit down and how I tie them out for shearing. By sitting them down like this it keeps them calmer than trying to flip them on their side. I tie the alpacas both for my safety and theirs. With their long legs they could easily give me a serious kick if they weren't tied and they are quite fidgety so if they aren't tied they could flinch at a bad time and get cut.
