For the First Sunday in Lent, we begin our series of Lenten recordings of Gregorian chant. Sung by Dominic Bevan, this is the Attende Domine, otherwise known as the Lent Prose. The themes of this hymn are the sinfulness of man and the mercy of God. The setting known to us all goes back to a French Missal from the 17th century, but this hymn goes back to a Mozarabic Litany from the 10th century. | Latin Mass Society
