Feeding the gators in the shallow water, if you’ve seen my other videos of this you’ll know they get a little wild here! I’ve done this a few times now, I’m interested to see how many times before they realize this doesn’t work and stop trying. I also talk about one of the THE BIGGEST misconceptions about my work—feeding them WONT make them calm or chill!! Probably my most common comment and the one that irks me the most as reality is literally the total opposite. Feeding them creates a feeding

Gators all stacked up at the door looking for food! This is part 1, I’ll post part 2 later. This shows the importance of training, and the importance of having the skills to handle things when training isn’t working😂. You’ll see in part two that I actually get them up and out of the way lol, but they were being very stubborn!! Once I get one or two they’ll all go. You can also see the importance of multitasking and quick reflexes with all those jaws up close together! And to clarify the obvious

Big gator Seven gently taking a piece of chicken! Then talking about how sensitive their jaws are! It’s really amazing how they’ll feel around to find food in dark murky water! More info on him from previous posts-At Everglades Holiday Park Seven is our biggest gator at EHP, he’s 10ft and likely around 350-400lbs. He gets the name 7 for a weird reason- alligators have five toes on the front feet, four toes on the back feet, so a total of 8 back feet toes. He is missing one of his back foot toes,

A lot of people are very surprised to learn that alligators do not chew their food, they swallow it whole! Check it out! More info from previous posts-At @evergladesholidaypark We feed our gators at the rescue once a week, that’s it, and only a few pieces each. 40lbs between about 20 gators, once a week. Any alligator here can easily go over a year without eating anything at all, not that they ever would here but very useful in the wild in a survival situation. Remember all the gators you see me

Feeding the gators and talking about how little they actually eat!! Although they eat very little, this does NOT mean they won’t pass up the opportunity, they’re ALWAYS hungry. This brings me to the “they must be well fed so they won’t bite you”, which is one of the most obnoxiously incorrect assessments I get about their behavior 😂. My favorite line back is “oh so you think they stop eating when they’re full just like humans right? Because humans stop eating when they’re full???” 😂 Gators wil

Our biggest gator Dino crushing down some food!! This impressive jaws, teeth, flexing jaw muscles, but if you watch close you’ll also see him invert his gular scent glands! These are used for chemical communication and can release pheromones, but what do they “say”? No one really knows, I see them do it for a variety of unrelated reasons-eating, fighting, mating, when captured, I imagine they can release different chemicals/concentrations to have different meanings! ~~~Our rescue gators are wild

Jumping gator action! Got muttley and darth here, if you’ve been following my page for a while you’ve seen the videos when I first started doing this feeding in the shallow water and they were targeting me instead of the food, now they are starting to understand how this works and are targeting the food! Very cool to see the progress. More info from previous posts-At @evergladesholidaypark We feed our gators at the rescue once a week, that’s it, and only a few pieces each. 40lbs between about 20

Gators go wild for their food😳 When it comes to food, Darth and Gomer do not mess around😅 Food makes their instincts kick in and they become very aggressive and unpredictable🤯 All they can think about is how they how they’re going to get that food😱 Gators are ambush predators and wait patiently for their prey to be striking distance⚠️ These guys may not be as wild as other gators but they still got those millions of years of instincts🙌 | Jayprehistoricpets

Professional biologist and animal handler, never attempt. How often do gators eat? Not anywhere near as much as people would think! A large alligator can eat less in a year than a small dog, because they don’t produce their own body heat and they do not have nearly the same metabolic with requirements as a mammal does! That being said, if I offered food, they will eat every single day and become obese, they are always hungry! So no, we don’t feed them before working with them because it doesn’t

Feeding our biggest gator dino! He got a nice pocket gopher(small rodent) as a whole prey treat! This was a few months ago during nicer weather, today it’s pouring rain in the 40s and it’s snowing in the Florida panhandle! Dino’s backstory- When we first caught Dino he had a horribly infected leg & was largely unresponsive, which after multiple vet visits we learned he was also suffering from lead toxicity due to a lead fishing weight being stuck in his GI tract with a hook. After a lot of care,

This is why it’s illegal to feed wild gators in Florida!! 😂Happy National gator day!! Here I am filming my fiancée @gabbynikolle with Stallone the nuisance gator who was being illegally fed in the wild before coming to us as a nuisance gator. Once fed, they associate people with food, and if you don’t give the food you ARE the food!! But this is not how gators attack prey, this is a feeding response chase of a fed animal, not a normal wild gator hunting strategy. As you can see, if a gator chas

Gatorfest is all about catching gators as fast as we can, so we can measure them, medicate them if needed and then get them back in the water as quickly as possible. The gators can occasionally get into fights and can sustain injuries that could become infected, entering their bloodstream and sometimes killing them. So, as a team, we need to make sure we are medicating the gators' injuries before they become life-threatening. #alligator #gator #alligators #survivor
