The precision immobilization technique (aka PIT maneuver) may seem simple, but it actually takes a skilled instructor, hours of practice, and quite a few trips around the track before the skill is learned. Our newly hired deputies are put through a variety of training courses, including the PIT maneuver, during their field training period. The deputies start out by being in the car that takes the PIT maneuver. This way they understand what the vehicle feels like when the maneuver is performed. T
